If you are taking the iBT TOEFL, the following recommendations (for minimums) are being used for skill scores. These may be reviewed as more data from the iBT continues to be received from ETS. Reading = 22; Listening = 22; Speaking = 18; Writing = 22; Total iBT minimum = 84. In 2013, the average TOEFL score for the students admitted from outside the United States was 107.
The application has been updated with a field to submit IELTS test scores. At this time, the Materials Science and Engineering department is not accepting IELTS test scores from applicants. If the IELTS section is complete and scores are submitted, you will be contacted to submit TOEFL test scores as well. The IELTS function was added to the application to accomodate other departments who are accepting IELTS scores.
